The par 4, first hole of the Old Macdonald Course gives the player the first view of the wide open tee shot landing areas typical of many of the course holes. The green is two tiered and protected by a pair of bunkers commonly referred to as the “Principals Nose.” Landing on the correct hole placement tier is a great help to avoiding three putts. This is a relatively short hole and a good hole to start on. The hole also provides the first view of the “Ghost” tree that defines the tee shot of the third hole. The winter months show of the blooming gorse is spectacular as seen in this view. Old Macdonald is the fourth course of the acclaimed Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, Bandon, Oregon. The course opened in 2010. Architects, Tom Doak and Jim Urbina.
