This is a view of the par 3, 2nd hole of the Old Macdonald Course from atop the eastern dune of the course. Players do not get to see the large expanse of the green from the tee. Eyes are usually on the pot bunker inspired by the “Strath” bunker at St. Andrews to the right front. The tee shot must be long enough to avoid the false front that returns the ball to the front approach. It is difficult to see the extent of the green to the rear from the tee. But too long and there is trouble with a bunker and a steep slope to the rear of the green. Old Macdonald is the fourth course of the acclaimed Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, Bandon, Oregon. The course opened in 2010. Architects, Tom Doak and Jim Urbina.
