A view of the descending pathway through the spring wildflowers and kinnikinick ground cover from the elevated teeing area to the low fairway of the short par 4, 14th hole of the Bandon Trails Course of the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, Bandon, Oregon. This is probably the most controversial hole of the five Bandon courses. Although long hitters can reach the green with their tee shots any shot less than perfect will end up in the woods on the left or at the very bottom of the low point of the hole on the right. The green is very elevated from this low area and an approach from here presents a great challenge for staying on the green because of its narrow width from this landing area. If the approach does not end up in the bunkers to the right chances are that the ball will roll over the green into a depression that leaves the player with a delicate third shot that may end up back over the green and into the previously noted bunkers. Double bogey is quite common on this short but devilish par 4. Bandon Trails is the third course of the acclaimed Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. The course opened in 2005.
